CaringBridge Update: Thur, May 12
Joanie here with an update:
Anna was able to come home from the hospital Tuesday evening. Though later than expected, she arrived home to balloons, streamers and other purple decorations. Tired after a long day at the hospital, she was still able to celebrate her 18th birthday with a group of very close friends at her home.
As Anna continues her radiation treatments daily, they take their toll on her strength. Doctors continue to try and find the right balance on her pain medications to allow her relief from pain. As they work toward this balance, Anna treasures her family and friends but is sleepy some and although she wants to be able to visit with friends, she is catching up on rest to gain strength. The family hopes Anna will soon feel up to visitors, but they are focusing now on the daily radiation treatments and will let us all know when visitors will be welcomed to visit and share their birthday wishes.
Until then, please keep Anna, Carol, Dave and Patrice in your prayers as they work with the doctors, nurses and therapists to help Anna in her courageous battle. For now, the family is glad to be home with the peace that comes from the familiar surroundings.
As always, the family reads the caring bridge notes daily and gains strength from knowing that there are so many faithful friends praying daily for “Dear Anna”. If you haven’t had a chance to view the video friends made, take time today….you will see friendship and love in video-form from friends at John Paul II High School.
